Classes

20. Classes

The Classes feature in TeachShare provides educators with a centralized hub to organize students, manage assignments, and track progress in real-time. This tool is essential for creating a structured digital classroom environment that supports both in-person and remote learning.

Class Organization

Educators can access the Classes tab from the TeachShare dashboard. The interface is designed to keep assignments and student data organized and easily accessible. The primary view displays two main sections:

  • Pending Classes: These are automatically generated based on the educator's recent TeachShare activity. This feature helps prevent new assignments from piling up in a single location, allowing teachers to quickly organize them into structured classes. Educators can finish setting up these pending classes or dismiss them.
  • Your Classes: This section lists all active, fully set-up classes. Each class card displays the class name, the number of enrolled students, and a unique "Join code." For example, an ELA class might have a code like "PUYC-1953."

Class Detail View

## Class Detail View

Clicking on a specific class, such as "ELA," opens its detailed view, which is organized into several key areas:

  1. Assignments: This section lists all active and past assignments for the class. Educators can add new assignments directly from this view. If no assignments have been created yet, a prompt encourages the teacher to add their first assignment.
  2. Roster (Students): The roster tab displays the list of students currently enrolled in the class. Educators can view student profiles, manage enrollment, and track individual progress. If no students are enrolled, a "Configure" button allows the teacher to set up the roster.
  3. Pacing Guide: This tab provides a structured overview of the class curriculum and schedule.

Student Access

The class detail view also prominently displays the student portal URL (e.g., www.teachshare.com/student) and the class join code. This information is crucial for onboarding students and ensuring they can easily access their assignments and course materials.

Legacy Assignments

For educators who have used TeachShare extensively, the Classes interface includes a "Legacy Assignments" section. This area holds older, unassigned items, ensuring that valuable resources are not lost while keeping the active class views uncluttered.
