Student Portal and Assignment Links
Student Portal and Assignment Links

The TeachShare Student Portal provides a dedicated, streamlined interface where students access and complete their digital assignments. When a teacher publishes a resource and generates a student link, it routes students directly into this portal, ensuring they interact only with the materials assigned to them.
Accessing the Student Portal
Students do not navigate the standard TeachShare Creator or Launchpad interfaces. Instead, they access their work through specific student-facing URLs:
- Direct Assignment Links: Teachers generate a unique URL (e.g.,
https://www.teachshare.com/api/shared-resource/[ID]) when publishing a resource. When students click this link, they are taken directly to the assignment. - Class Join Links: If a teacher creates a class roster, students can join using a specific class code or join link (e.g.,
https://www.teachshare.com/student/join). This connects them to their specific class dashboard
](https://storage.crisp.chat/users/helpdesk/website/-/6/1/0/f/610f0c2cf188d000/image_12h2gw3.png)- Student Dashboard: Once joined, students have a dashboard where they can view all active assignments for their class, track their progress, and see completed work.
The Student Assignment Experience
When a student opens a digital assignment link, the interface is optimized for completion rather than creation. The complex left-hand editing menu and layout settings available to teachers are completely hidden.
Viewing the Resource
The assignment appears in a clean, focused view. The toolbar at the top provides essential navigation tools:
- Zoom Controls: Students can adjust the zoom level (e.g., Zoom In, Zoom Out, or set a specific percentage) to read text comfortably or view diagrams clearly.
- Page Navigation: For multi-page resources, students can use "Next" and "Previous" buttons or a page dropdown to move through the assignment.
- Scroll Tools: If the resource is wider than the screen, horizontal scroll buttons allow students to pan across the document.
Interacting with Question Blocks
Students interact directly with the question blocks the teacher added during creation:
- Text Inputs: For Fill in the Blanks, Short Answer, or Long Answer questions, students click into the designated text boxes and type their responses.
- Interactive Elements: If the assignment includes Multiple Choice, Select All, True/False, or Matching questions, students click to select their answers or drag and drop elements as instructed.
- Drawing and Math: For specific subjects, students may use drawing tools to annotate diagrams or math input blocks to write equations.
Student Accessibility Features
TeachShare includes built-in accessibility tools that students can opt into while working on an assignment, ensuring that diverse learning needs are supported:
- Text Read Aloud (Text-to-Speech): Students can select text on the page and have it read aloud to them. This is especially helpful for emerging readers, ELL students, or those with visual impairments.
- Voice to Text (Dictation): Instead of typing, students can use their device's microphone to dictate their answers into text boxes.
- Highlighting: Students can use digital highlighters to mark up the text, color-code information, or highlight key instructions before answering questions.
Submitting Work
While the exact submission flow depends on how the teacher exported the assignment (e.g., via Google Classroom or TeachShare's internal system), the student portal generally auto-saves progress. Once all questions are answered, the student submits the assignment, locking their answers and sending the data back to the teacher's Assignment Hub for review and grading via the Autograder.
