Pacing Plan

22. Pacing Plan

The Pacing Plan (or Pacing Guide) feature in TeachShare provides educators with a structured, visual overview of their curriculum schedule. This tool is essential for long-term planning, ensuring that all necessary standards and topics are covered within the academic year.

Accessing the Pacing Guide

Educators can access the Pacing Guide from within a specific class view (e.g., the "ELA" class). The interface is designed to present a clear, chronological sequence of lessons and activities.

Pacing Overview

The Pacing Guide is typically organized by month and week, offering a detailed breakdown of instructional time. The primary view displays a calendar-like structure with days of the week (Sun-Sat).

For each day, the guide lists the scheduled topics and their allocated duration. For example, a week in a math class might look like this:

  • Monday: Intro to Fractions (45m), Number Line (45m), Comparing (45m)
  • Tuesday: Mixed Numbers (45m), Adding Fractions (45m)
  • Wednesday: Word Problems (45m), Review (45m)
  • Thursday: Equivalent Fractions (45m), Simplifying (45m)
  • Friday: Assessment Prep (45m), Quiz (45m)

This level of detail helps teachers ensure that instructional time is balanced and that key concepts receive adequate focus.

Building a Weekly Planner

The Pacing Guide serves as the foundation for daily instructional delivery. TeachShare includes a "Build My Planner" feature that allows educators to turn the high-level pacing guide into a detailed weekly planner.

This transition involves linking the scheduled topics with specific lessons, tracking curriculum standards, and integrating relevant assignments. The resulting planner provides a comprehensive, day-by-day roadmap for the classroom, ensuring that every lesson is aligned with the broader pacing strategy and that students are consistently working towards their learning objectives.
